Championing conservation - one tree at a time...
Hi, I'm Alun...
Hey there, it’s great to meet you! I’m Alun, one of the Directors of Little Bats and volunteer forest school helper, who loves everything about the nature and our environment. With extensive experience in conservation, I’m always on the lookout for ways to help promote the protection of our world and share the wonder of the nature to as many people as possible.
The great thing about Little Bats Learning is that it gives our community an opportunity to get involved with environmental projects and show them just how amazing the world around us really is. I have a passion for trees and arboriculture, which obviously means I like to focus on trees and it’s always a thrill for me to see people of every age come together to plant and care for them.
I believe it’s essential to get young people interested in environmental projects now so that future generations will have an active role in protecting our planet. That’s why, when I’m leading forest school sessions, I do my best to open their eyes to the beauty of nature and inspire them to take action to protect it!
A Little About Me
- I hold a BA in Environmental Studies which helps me to give expert advice when considering our decisions and impact for Forest School
- I’m proud to work with Bolton At Home as their community engagement champion for climate change.
- Working as the chair of The Friends Of Seven Acres allows me to help lead the positive work in the Brightmet and Tonge area with the nature park.
- I love all things bushcraft, arboriculture and foraging – perfect for getting young minds inspired in the forest!
"THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO PLANT TREES, UNDER WHOSE SHADE YOU DO NOT EXPECT TO SIT
I’m literally outdoors as much as possible – my world revolves around it! Spending time with my various volunteer projects is a real passion, as is exploring the beach with my partner Elanor and the boys. I also like to cycle and get out and about across the North West on my road bike so I can enjoy the beautiful views.
